Bold, complex wine featuring blackberries and balsamic.
Sagrantino is a rare native grape, farmed mostly in Umbria, that has a reputation for producing high tannin wines. So, when we stumbled across this gem of a wine, we were thrilled to find the Sagrantino’s fruity characteristics of blackberries, black current, spice and balsamic notes were all there, yet the wine was surprisingly smooth with balanced tannins. This is partly due to the winemaking process, ageing it in barrels and then bottles for 3 years before release as well as a skilful blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to compliment the Sagrantino grapes.
A wine made from Sagrantino grapes is not commonly found in Hong Kong and if you have never tried it before, this is a perfect introduction.

Impronta is our oldest and most loved red wine. As we have grown and developed, so has this wine. The 2018 vintage is a beauty and leaves an imprint on any wine lover’s mind and on our region, just as the name ‘Impronta’ intended. We see this wine as a point of arrival, a ‘tamed’ Sagrantino that is extremely balanced, soft and elegant thanks to its two years in large oak barrels and one year in the bottle. It signifies a definite departure from its more rustic heritage.
Best opened an hour or two before drinking to breathe.
Goes superbly with fatty gamey meats or strong cheeses as well as umami flavours:
Sagrantino grapes contain the highest amount of polyphenol (antioxidants) of any red wine and double the amount found in a Bordeaux wine.
