It all started in 2014, when we met Francesco and Valentina Ciappi on holiday in Tuscany. We planned a one-night farmstay at their agriturismo, Casa alle Vacche, but then we discovered their winery. Nine days later, we finally tore ourselves away, hiccupping.
With a newfound appreciation for Italian wine, we enthusiastically set about exploring Italy’s patchwork quilt of wine regions. We took tiny, unpaved white country lanes through rustic vineyards to centuries-old wineries, and discovered a new generation of Italian winemakers. They share a deep love and respect for their land, a passion for their wines and a modern outlook. They aim to move Italian wine forward, balancing the latest sustainable farming methods with tradition. And the results taste great.
There are now about 350 grape varieties in production, many of which are barely known outside Italy. It is a rich and diverse world of wine that is relatively unexplored. So we have done the hard work for you, drinking our way around Tuscany, Le Marche and beyond, to bring a select range of hidden gems to Hong Kong.
As we explore further, we’ll be discovering more delicious and little-known artisan and organic wines. And we’ll be sharing them with you.
