Welcome to the brand new Vino website
How did it start?
At last, our dream has come true as we launch our new Vino website where you can buy all those yummy wines that could only previously be found in Italy. Prior to our first visit to Italy in 2014, our only experience of Italian wine had been frankly a bit lacklustre; forgettable Pinot Grigio or vinegary Chianti. So imagine our surprise when we had our first house carafe in a little Tuscan restaurant ….. and it was delicious! We couldn’t believe it, this was only the house wine and it was streets ahead of anything we’d had before. Cue ….. A LOT of wine tasting!
We made it our goal to rout out lesser known family-run vineyards in Tuscany and Le Marche. Hell, who are we kidding, it was hardly a hardship. Lots of sunny days quaffing wine as we tried to narrow down our favourites, which obviously took a LONG time! We ended up making some fantastic friends on our wine travels, and some of those friends now supply us with our gorgeous wines.
Why Italian Wine?
Well firstly, it is the most delicious we have tasted! Historically the really good wine rarely makes it out of Italy. Mostly what you get is mass produced indifferent wines – we plan to change this. Our suppliers are fiercely protective of their heritage and place quality above profit. So what you will find on our site is small batch wine from native grapes, many of which are specific only to certain regions.
We are passionate about seeking out small independent wine producers in Italy. There is a new generation of Italian winemakers that are blazing a trail through the industry, combining contemporary methods with age-old tried and tested processes. It is such an exciting time and we want to share our Italian journey with you here in Hong Kong, as we offer you the very best wines we have found.
